Can I order samples before placing an order?

Yes. We're happy to send samples to potential partners and customers, once we've understood your needs and confirmed we're an appropriate supplier. Please contact shop@toraphene.com with a few details about your business or use case and we'll be in touch.


I represent a business. Can I order very large quantities?

Yes. We routinely deliver orders ranging from a fraction of a container up to multiple full 40' container loads (approximately 5 million units per shipment). Lead times, pricing, and customisation options are confirmed at order. For business enquiries, please contact shop@toraphene.com.


Can we brand Toraphene products with our own logo and colours?

Yes. Co-branding and white-label arrangements are a core part of how we work. A growing number of household, food trade, and eco-DTC brands now extend into compostable bag categories in partnership with us, with our in-house custom print service applying their branding to our high-performance materials.

What are Toraphene's compostable products made from? Are they vegan? Are they food safe?

Toraphene's bin liners and bags are plastic-free, made from a blend of plant-based biopolymers (including PLA and starch) and natural mineral (chalk/limestone), reinforced with 2D nanotechnology for additional strength and barrier performance.

The material is vegan. No palm, soya, virgin soil, or deforestation is involved at any stage.

It is certified compostable to EN 13432 and ASTM D6400, meaning the bags break down fully in industrial composting facilities — including the food and garden waste systems run by most UK and EU local councils — and return to harmless natural components, including fertiliser.

It is also food contact grade, compliant with EU Regulation No. 10/2011, so food in contact with the material remains safe to eat.

 

How should I dispose of Toraphene bags after use?

The right route depends on what's available where you live.

  • With food and garden waste collection (recommended): Most UK and EU local councils run kerbside collections for food and garden waste, which are sent to industrial composting facilities. Toraphene bags are designed for exactly this system.
  • With general waste: If your local council doesn't collect food and garden waste separately, Toraphene bags can go into general waste. They will not contribute to ocean plastic or microplastic accumulation in the way conventional plastic does.
  • In a home compost heap: Toraphene bags are certified for industrial composting, not home composting. Home composting conditions are too variable to guarantee full breakdown of the film, so we don't recommend it.


What is the shelf life of Toraphene compostable film products?

Eighteen months when stored cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight. After that, the bags remain usable but may gradually begin to lose performance as the material starts its natural breakdown process.


What is your returns policy?

For retail customers (B2C), we offer a no-fuss returns policy. If you're not satisfied with any product, we'll refund or replace it. For any specific concerns about quality, please contact shop@toraphene.com.


Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes. Our outer packaging is plastic-free and FSC-certified, printed with natural dyes, and can be recycled with paper and card. It can also be cut up and added to a home compost heap.

Where are Toraphene products manufactured?

In the United Kingdom.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. For direct consumer orders, shipping options are shown at checkout. For business orders, international logistics are arranged on an order-by-order basis. Please contact shop@toraphene.com.

 

Have Toraphene products been independently tested?

Yes. Independent laboratory testing has confirmed:

  • 39% greater tensile strength than virgin compostable polymer (March 2025)
  • 63% greater tensile strength than the leading UK/EU compostable competitor (April 2025)
  • 92% improved moisture barrier strength (October 2023)
  • 43% improved tear strength (October 2022)
