Toraphene performance

What makes our caddy liners different

A compostable bag should not mean compromising on performance. Toraphene combines certified compostable materials with graphene reinforcement for dependable everyday use.

Graphene-reinforced strength

Graphene reinforces the material, helping it resist stretching and tearing under everyday loads.

Leak-resistant

Designed to contain mess and moisture more reliably, helping keep bins, floors and hands cleaner.

Certified compostable

Certified to EN 13432 and suitable for industrial composting where accepted locally.

Caddy Liners

Plant-based materials

Made using renewable, plant-based polymers instead of conventional fossil-based plastic.

Made for the job

Designed for 8L, 15L and 20L food-waste caddies.

Made in Britain

Developed and manufactured in Britain, with more than seven million Toraphene products supplied.

Strong enough for the job. Better at the end of it.

Performance when you use it, with a more responsible end of life when you are finished. Toraphene is engineered for food scraps and kitchen waste without relying on conventional plastic.

Why it matters

Used briefly should not mean lasting for generations.

Traditional plastic bags are difficult to recover or recycle after use. Many are buried or incinerated, while escaped plastic can fragment into persistent microplastics.

Toraphene offers another approach: high-performance bags made from certified compostable materials and reinforced with graphene. They are designed to do the job properly without leaving conventional plastic behind.

Disposal matters: only place compostable bags in food-waste or compost collections where they are accepted by your local authority. Do not put them in conventional plastic recycling.

Material innovation

Why Toraphene®

Toraphene pairs certified compostable, plant-based polymers with graphene reinforcement to remove the usual compromise between performance and environmental responsibility.

Plant-based polymers

Renewable feedstocks reduce reliance on conventional fossil-based plastic while providing a practical material for everyday products.

Graphene reinforcement

Graphene is an exceptionally strong, lightweight form of carbon. It reinforces the material and helps the bag perform reliably in use.

Certified end of life

EN 13432 certification confirms compostability under controlled industrial conditions, when the correct waste route is available.

Strong in use. Certified for what comes next.

How Toraphene compares

Not every bag marketed as a greener choice is made—or verified—in the same way.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Practical guidance on using, storing and disposing of your Toraphene bags.

What can I use these caddy liners for?

Toraphene caddy liners are designed for food scraps and everyday kitchen waste. If you use a council food-waste collection, check that your local authority accepts compostable liners.

Are they home compostable?

Toraphene bags are certified to EN 13432 for industrial composting. Industrial facilities provide controlled heat, moisture and microbial conditions that are not normally maintained in a home compost heap. Unless packaging specifically states otherwise, they should not be presented as home compostable.

How are they different from recycled-plastic bags?

Recycled-plastic bags remain plastic at the end of their useful life. Toraphene bags use certified compostable materials reinforced with graphene and are designed for industrial composting where an appropriate collection route exists.

Do they feel like ordinary plastic bags?

They are flexible and lightweight, so they feel familiar in use. They may feel thinner than some conventional bags because the material is reinforced with graphene.

Why are the bags relatively thin?

Thickness alone does not determine strength. Toraphene uses graphene reinforcement to improve material performance while keeping the bag lightweight and efficient.

Which size should I choose?

Choose between 8L, 15L and 20L options. Because caddy shapes vary, compare the bag dimensions shown on the packaging with your caddy for the most reliable fit.

How long do they take to compost?

EN 13432 certification tests compostability under controlled industrial conditions. Breakdown time outside those conditions—including in landfill, soil or the natural environment—can vary considerably. Compostability is never a reason to litter.

Can I put them in plastic recycling?

No. Compostable bags should not be placed in conventional plastic recycling because they are a different material and can contaminate that recycling stream. Follow the disposal instructions on the packaging and local waste guidance.

How should I store them?

Keep the bags in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat and excessive moisture. This helps preserve their performance until they are ready to use.
